The Mom is Making the Geek Find a New Home – at ActonWeb

An incredible amount of research and transformation has been happening with the formalization of my web business. It’s been fun, stressful, informative, unclear, but mostly very exciting. As opportunities have come and gone and I continue to follow my gut, the true direction of where I want to go is being decided. What a wonderful thing to have, this freedom. It is definitely not something I remember feeling when I worked in the corporate world.

All of this change may affect you as my reader of this blog. Readership and interaction has grown steadily here (THANK YOU!), but I’d like to spin-off some of my web development and social media posts and let this blog remain a place where I feel free to talk about life “At the Intersection of Mom and Web Entrepreneur”. Here you’ll continue to get posts on mompreneurship, what I’m learning as I build my business, and other more personal topics.

My more technical posts can now be found at ActonWeb. This new blog is aimed at nonprofits and small interests that want to establish and/or expand their web presence via websites, blogs, and social media. I want to lower the cost of entry to the World Wide Web for lower-budget entities that are willing to learn.

Sound cool? Good.

With that, you have some options:

  • If you’re reading this blog for the first time and want to continue to hear about life as a mom and web entrepreneur, I invite you to subscribe to this site. But if you’d rather just get the geeky web stuff, feel free to subscribe to ActonWeb.
  • If you’re already a subscriber of this site and want to continue to get my more technical posts on web development, social media, tutorials, strategy, news, and events, I invite you to subscribe to ActonWeb.

Again, thanks so much to everyone that’s supported me on this journey. I appreciate all of the opportunities you all have put in my hands. It’s helping me find myself…

Good for you Heather! I just split off SKS Designs and started ShanSteffen.com – it has been difficult but much needed if you want to focus on the niche you are most passionate about. If you need any assistance, you know where I am! :)

That’s awesome to hear, Shannon! You are right – it’s hard to make the choice to update and maintain another site when we already feel stretched, but once I made the decision it felt like a weight was lifted from my shoulders. For us chatty ones we need plenty of platforms to voice our thoughts =) Thanks for the offer – I may come meet you up in Milwaukee for lunch sometime soon. Would love to chat again!
